Fitzroy Crossing is a quintessential outback Australian town, set on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River. Fitzroy Crossing has an interesting history and is the stepping off point for visitors on their way to many of the stunning attractions of the Kimberley. It is surrounded by some of Australia's biggest pastoral properties.
A must is a visit to the original townsite where the Crossing Inn is located. Built is 1897 and on the banks of the river.
Fitzroy Crossing was the the base for the search for the famous Aboriginal outlaw, Jandamarra and his gang at the end of the last century.
Fitzroy Crossing is also located close to Geike Gorge.
